Tournament Format
The Tournament consists of 16 teams divided into 4 pools of 4 teams.
Each team will play 3 games in pool play, and 1 game against a team from a different pool (for a total of 4 games). Teams who qualify for the championship game will play one more additional game (total of 5 games)
2 points are rewarded for a win and 0 points are rewarded for a loss (there are no tie games…see game format).
At the end of pool play each team will finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th and play a team from a different pool with the corresponding placing. For example, the 4th place team in Pool A will play the 4th place team in Pool B, the 3rd place team from Pool A will play the 3rd place team in Pool B, etc.
Ties
If there is a tie in points after pool play, the tie breakers are as follows:
1st tie-breaker – Head to Head
2nd tie-breaker – Goals against
3rd tie-breaker – Goals scored
4th tie-breaker – Coin-toss
Finals
Teams finishing 1st in their pool will play each other in the semi-final game. Winners of the semi-final games will play each other for the championship.
